Refractory materials are heat resistant materials, which constitute a lining(s) to the metal surface of the high temperature furnaces, reactors, crackers etc. In addition to being resistant to the thermal stress and other physical phenomena induced by heat, it must withstand physical wear and corrosion by chemical agents from the process.
